*THE HERITAGE FUND*

Last week hearing a lot of heritage fund brouhaha. I sat down thinking what at all does the said fund entails. A lot runs through my mind asking myself numerous questions including
what is this heritage fund? .... Where it is invested? ...
How much interest does it earn annually? Who suppose to benefit from this fund?
I was immobilize with shock when I started finding solutions to some of these questions.
The word heritage as I understand is something that can be passed from one generation to the next, something that can be conserved.
Ghana Heritage Fund (GHF) was setup with the aim of securing the future of the next generation. *Fair enough!!!*
Out of Ghana's share in the oil revenue 9% is set aside as the heritage fund. *Bravoo*👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
*My question here is who are the future leaders?*
As at the year ending 31st December 2016, the actual amount plus its interest earn over the six year period was *$ 277 million*. The interest earn on this fund is 1% annually. *Woow* 👀👀👀
I know perfectly well that this amount to make matters worse is invested in offshore instrument. In economic analysis, *does it makes economic sense?* This amount could be invested in local companies with high interest rate and will help increase exportation which will stabilise the cedi. We took loans from white Men land with 10% compound interest while $ 277 million lying idle in the same white Man's land earning 1% annually. *WHAT A COUNTRY ..... Eeeeeiiii 3y3 asem oooo*
. *What we are doing today is irrational!!!*
Am for rebranding our nation using the 60th anniversary celebration.
